What is Words Without Knowledge?
Briefly, Words Without Knowledge will be a reflection of my life. That means there will be
a decent amount of math;
quite a few thoughts on philosophy;
general reflections on life.
Schedule-wise, I hope to release articles once a week on Tuesdays ±1 day. Any bonus articles will come out on Fridays ±1 day. Everything is currently free, and nothing that was free will ever move behind a paywall. If there is enough support down the road, however, I will certainly consider starting a paid series.
Why is it called that, anyway?
Mostly because of this badass passage in Job:
Job 38:1–2
[1] Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:
[2] “Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? (ESV)
It is left to the reader to judge what I am saying about my own abilities by using this passage as a title.
Slightly more seriously, a necessary part of life is being in situations, places, times, where you do not know much. Part of the pattern of learning is trying to understand new things. Often times, when this happens, we have to ask questions. We are required to speak words without knowledge. I think asking questions, as a default state, is an excellent way to live, and I hope to write things that encourage new vistas of thought to open for people.
Why You Should Subscribe
If you’re the kind of person who has more than one interest, and who enjoys being around people with more than one interest, this substack is the place for you. If your interests happen to line up with some of the things I’m writing about, all the better - but I would love to hear from people whose main passions are in other areas. I’m always looking for interesting things to learn about; it’s far easier to learn when you have a guide, or better yet, a friend.
